Currently I'm in a depressed and indecisive state with very low confidence. My salary is very much below par with respect to my experience.

Make your real answer into a polished answer, and be ready to expound in a professional way. There’s ways. If you can’t, use AI to craft an answer and change it to fit your own speech style. Some employers ask and it’s always good to be ready to answer-confidently.
Real reasons usually are the best way, don't bash your previous employer.
In my experience, I usually want an honest answer, but I also want to see professionalism and self-awareness. You don’t need to give every detail, especially if there was conflict or frustration involved. I would highly discourage mentioning your supervisors in a negative manner, as that can possibly be seen as a red flag during an interview. A good approach is to be truthful when asked about why you left while focusing on what you learned and what you’re looking for next. Being genuine tends to come across better than an overly polished answer that sounds rehearsed. Overall, treat your interview like a friendly professional conversation. Good luck with your interviews!
