Ask how decisions are typically made in the organization. In your questions, you’re looking for real life examples that demonstrate culture rather than something they can read out of a hand book.
Have them walk you through a typical day and week at the company
Ask if they have Juneteenth off, hybrid or fully remote. Paternal leaves for newborns…ask if they are doing away with their DEI in light of the new administration
I actually just came across this on LinkedIn. Hope this helps! https://www.linkedin.com/posts/renoperry_stop-asking-whats-the-culture-like-in-interviews-activity-7270796978777653248-Awsp?utm_source=combined_share_message&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_campaign=copy_link
Great list
Ask behavioral type questions. For example, if mentorship is key for you, ask something like “in the last 2-4 weeks, can you tell me a time when you were mentored or when you mentored someone and what that looked like?” Anyone can say they have mentorship programs etc but what they look like, how they are done, etc is what you really want. This is obviously just one example but hopefully gives you an idea of the approach.
Ask what expectations are required as an employee and a team. How people work together and individually? What is company culture and how that carries down through the ranks? How are raises and bonuses completed? What are benefits? If benefits suck, then people are going to be happy and it may be hard to work with them as well.
