Career growth and higher pay. Don't let yourself stagnate. Also, don't delude yourself into thinking that stability exists in 2025. Layoffs can happen to any company at any time.

thank you!
Interesting question. My first instinct would be to go for stability. Yet that could be wrong. Not to sound too cynical, but in today's economy there may not be any stability. As your job may be at risk anywhere, might as well opt for the job that offers career growth.

that was my first instinct too, but you're right that stability isn't guaranteed :(
Growth. Stability is a myth. I thought my role was very stable (with continued growth opportunity). Great relationship with my boss (CPO) and our entire team has been over delivering on procurement productivity.
2 months ago we had most approvals in place to co-locate our global leaders plus all European management to Spain and I was looking at a great relocation opportunity there (currently US based). Fast forward to now, and I just finished laying out reorg options with my boss which included eliminating both his and my job (among many others).
While mine is going to be eliminated, he did advocate for me and I have 2 new roles to choose from. However, he is leaving now that his role is shrinking significantly and will no longer match his goals.
It really shows how nobody should have any loyalty to companies. The only loyalty that matters is to individuals. My boss has really pushed to make sure that my colleagues and I that are the core performers have landing spots even though it is clear he is going to leave. (His remaining role is too small for him and he is not interested to stay). There are others that are being laid off, but he is stuck to performance based decisions everywhere possible and tried to find new landing places where roles were eliminated with strong people in them.
I will watch where he ends up and would gladly follow him somewhere else in the future if the opportunity presents itself.
