Considering obtaining a CFE certification. Can anyone share their experience vs experience obtaining CPA? I’m already a CPA. I just want a comparison of study time requirement and difficulty of exam.

You can probably take the cfe after two weeks of studying that won't happen for cpa

What would the benefit be

If you’ve already passed the CPA, you could probably take the practice tests and be done. CFE exam doesn’t take near the study time, or headaches as the CPA. Plus you get extra letters in your business card

Which CFE are you talking about? The Fraud one is open book or at least it used to be

The fraud exam is closed book and nowhere near as difficult as the CPA. There are 4 multiple choice tests that you can take from any computer. You have to finish all 4 tests within one month of taking the first exam. One week to study for each test is more than enough. Cramming works well

I didn’t realize the CFE was significantly easier to obtain. Thank you!

Hi Tax Bowlers, I'm an experienced associate (2yrs) in a Big 4 Transfer Pricing division. I have reached a point in my career where I am considering taking up a professional certification. Several colleagues recommended taking up either ACCA or CFA, however, I see little connection between these certifications and the work that I am currently doing, and what I plan to do in the future. What would you guys suggest? Would it be detrimental to my career if I did not take up any certifications?

For the CFE, did you do anything in addition to the ACFE prep course? The course is just practice questions, so I’m wondering where I can actually learn the information first before that.
