Is age of 31 at matriculation too old? (With the goal of IB)

That’s how old most of the military folks are

I’d say a majority of students start at ages 26-30 but there are certainly people older and younger than that! A lot of my friends are in their 30s

I’m 34 in full time - it’s fine

Completely ok - you’d be in the top 5-10% of your class in terms of age. May be taxing to party with classmates in their mid 20s, but you can always do so in moderation.

Idk man I’m in the best shape of my life I think I can hang 🤣

funny

Age is just one factor in a holistic evaluation. What have you been doing since graduating from college? Is going into IB a complete career change or a pivot?

There are plenty of students who matriculate at 31.

What is more important is that you share why NOW is the right time for you to go to business school, what transferrable skills and knowledge you have from whatever you have been doing to date and what gaps only an MBA can fill to put you on the path you intend to take post-MBA.

What are your goals beyond IB? What is your plan B if you aren't able to secure a role in IB?

Big four deals 3 years. Now 3 years of being an acct fp@a manager at a PE portco going from family business to IPO

Just not very satisfied with the accounting or corp finance career at this point

I started at 38 but I was a career advancer not changer. One recommendation is to put in the hours you'd put in to get your MBA and use that time on the GMAT and see how going to school fits in your life. This assumes you're going part time.

I’d be going full time
To switch to IB/PE

Yall are using the term mid 20s generously. Most people are in their late 20s so 31 is fine. Dont know many 24/25 year olds in full time

Don’t compare yourself to others. Comparison is the thief of joy. You finish when it’s best for you

I’ve been a family caregiver for four years, and now look to return to the workforce. I realize that this will be a bit difficult, especially during these economic conditions, plus other factors, such as being an older employee, etc. I updated my account with a few job sites, adding on the fact that I took time off to care for a family member. I would appreciate some advice, anything that would be helpful.

Does an MBA (US) make sense for me? Male, Indian, Age 32, Married working in tech consulting with 10 YOE. Base is $165 with steady increases and bonus is typically 15%. I eventually do want to cross the $300K threshold but I know stopping work for 2 years and getting and MBA probably won’t get me a $300K job right away. Becoming a manger in my current company/path will probably get me there in terms of TC. Also considering EMBA from a good school (Wharton Global, Duke, Kellogg, Booth).

For context, I want to get into product management at FAANG/fintech with pursuing MBB as a plan B. Thanks in advance!
