I doubt schools will let you defer unless there’s a good reason (usually it’s sickness, family emergency, etc). And they require proof.
I think this is smart! Maybe if you received scholarship money, they may not give you the same amount next year (or any $)?
If you aren’t pressed for time, this seems like a great idea for you. Just keep in mind that if your end goal will still be the same, and you’re confident you can get there with your current program acceptance then that is a lost year with your future company / future role
following let’s be friends to talk about this lol
Same boat!! Can I join the talk too?
If you can defer it without consequence, why would that be bad?
Exactly. I’m trying to think if there are any major downsides besides revamping my application and waiting another year
What's advantage of deferring? Seeing as we'll be in person in the fall.
Pretty legitimate reasons!
Last year was the only year in known history that schools were offering deferrals en masse.
Most schools will only offer a deferral if you have a personal illness that makes it impossible for you to join or if you can't transition from the military in time to start.
Lower tiered schools are well aware that asking for a deferral is often because the admitted applicant wants something 'better.'
