How's SVB doing? Is there a hiring freeze?
After submitting my resume for the Global Finance and Business Management full time position at JP Morgan (my dream job!), I got a HireVue invite the next day! However, I completed it 9 days ago and still have no response....
When do we get a response in average, and after how much time does it mean I probably am not getting an offer to continue?
Thanks!

That's interesting, I've had the exact opposite experience. I've only gotten any interviews from cold applications. All of my referrals fell through or never went anywhere.
Cold applying feels like tossing resumes into a black hole. Even with a solid background and tailored apps, it's usually crickets. Referrals have been the only way I've gotten through to interview rounds. It's frustrating knowing effort alone doesn't cut it unless someone vouches for you.
Referrals aren’t a bad thing to have! They don’t go near as far as they used to though. I’ve had one and it got me to an interview that went well, was beat out by candidates with a lot more experience. It’s very much an employers market and they can pick and choose however they see fit, not shortage of applicants for them to go through either.
Hallo
I think it can depend a lot on the position. For some jobs it's like the bit in Goodfellas where Henry Hill explains how the mob wants to know all about your family going back to the old country. Okay, maybe it's not that severe, but elite school and upper class networks still matter a lot. But for a lot of positions people can come in as strangers, though I'd say the timing matters a lot. Right now it seems like it's hard for anyone to come in.
So you mean to tell me you’re at GS struggling to get interviews? Guess we’re all cooked
I was having terrible luck with cold applying and referrals up until recently. I decided to go back on LinkedIn and respond to every single recruiter who reached out regarding any roles, whether they fit myself or not, communicating what roles would be a good fit. This actually gave me a lot of great feedback and I ended up with 17 interviews within 3 weeks, I ultimately ended up with 7 offers
I've had a few but they haven't panned out, trying to slow my pace down and tailor my resume better so I can beat the ATS system but still really hard
I've been seeing the same thing. My hit rate on cold apps has to be 5% or lower, but every other referral seems to land me an interview. "Who you know, not what you know" is painfully accurate.
What about through recruiters?
