Seems like a joke to make fun of those guys! Not social commentary…

OP, let’s be clear, you have been writing a lot of things about me and I’m allowed to respond to that, even when you perceive my responses differently. I agree, it’s blatantly clear to me that you are very closed-off… and that was pretty much exactly what I was expressing anyways (you want groups of people that aren’t exactly like you to “cater” to you, in your words).
You keep saying I’m intolerant, but that seems to be a huge projection of your own feelings, since you’re the one that can’t handle that I have a different perspective and want to shut it down. Meanwhile, you keep continuing the conversation and I haven’t been attempting to shut down your pov the way you have been mine (you do keep responding and sharing your perspective even though you’re saying you’re not).
I actually have seen people change their opinion on here, and I have changed my own opinion before, but maybe you haven’t seen or done this since you are sensitive to anyone that shares a different pov. Btw, the overwhelming majority of people on this thread have expressed the same view that I have about the meme so it’s not crazy to think it’s something you could consider
This is a satire of exactly the problem you are describing

Exactly
I’m sorry but this is a hilariously insignificant thing to be upset about. Good lord.
Yeah, I don’t think these are real costumes. They’re jokes AT those finance bros
They should write “closet sexist who thinks women are stupid”
The point is to poke fun at those guys. If it was a woman instead, would your commentary be how offensive it is that they're poking fun at female VCs while being statistically inaccurate?
Not so long ago the doctor costumes always featured men, the only option for anything in the medical field for women was “sexy nurse”. Very much the same thing here.
Exactly why is society so shitty towards working women? Why do we have such a hard time picturing women working? Ugh. No wonder I like my dog better than people…

So, part of the reason this is funny is because most guys have literally no sense of style on their own. These costume memes are poking fun of the sheer lack of originality among certain groups. The reason there isn’t a female version of this costume likely has less to do with sexism/misogyny than it does with the fact that women in most white-collar jobs don’t all dress alike and don’t have an easily identifiable “uniform” like these dudes do.
Now, if you’d been around back in the 80s when women were really starting to join the ranks of upwardly-mobile young execs, it was a different story. Knee-length skirt, nude pantyhose, pussy-bow blouse, sensible pumps (or Reeboks & sneakers if you commuted by public transit), and a boxy, jewel-tone blazer with “statement” necklace. If memes had existed back then, it could have easily been one.
Dude! If I had to make a product that I need to sell, I would follow the 80/20 rule. So yes, the products will be geared to men because that’s how the industry is right now. Your issue shouldn’t be this manufacturer but rather with the policy folks and companies that propagate this divide
I’m just saying its depressing the world we live in sometimes and this stupid meme is just another reminder how working women are still not really accepted. I can’t change the world, but would be nice if it was a better place!
Yeah I know what you mean OP. For some reason, our society (which includes us too!) seems to just see women as afterthoughts regardless of how much progress we make. What you’re feeling is very valid, just like other folks who don’t feel the same are also valid. Different strokes for different folks. Know that I hear you and I feel the same most of the time - kind of hopelessly sad that things don’t seem to change from someone’s 68 year old doctor mom being called a nurse in her time to todays female resident still being called a “sexy nurse”.
I knew the more senior gals on the the thread would get this…10 years ago, all bright and bushy eyed, I’d have sang a different sign for sure.

F here. It’s hilarious, I shared with my VC.
The female equivalent of this outfit? Oh wait. I have a sample of 2 people - out of maybe 100 VCs that I met, in 20 years. So it’s nearly impossible to stereotype a female VC.
Oh I could for sure do it. It’s for sure doable. Just to be clear - I am not at all having any trouble with making very good money or with my career. I do very well. The issue is that I don’t want to just do something, I want a different culture that caters to me more. Find me a workplace culture that meets a reasonable bar for women’s experience and I may consider applying but probably not.
