Bill Good - Hot Prospects
This.I'm not even sure I would have a rookie read The Big Short, either. I love that book, and it's really entertaining, but I don't see how a newbie would get value out of that.
I would recommend Storyselling for Financial Advisors
Behavioral investment counseling by nick Murray. It is a great behavioral read and it literally changed my business model. I only wish I would have found it 7 years before I did! Enjoy! I
I second nick Murray. I was fortunate enough to have a mentor that gave me a copy early in my career and 7 years later is the foundation of my approach. Must read for an FA at any stage of their career. He has others that are great as well. Google him if you are not familiar.
"Extreme Ownership" .. great book on leadership!
It does, it helps connecting the action of investing with the "why should I do it?"
The New Advisor for Life by Stephen Gresham and any Nick Murray book
Start with Why - Simon Sinek...Title is pretty self explanatory. Also, The Compound Effect - Darren Hardy...little things done consistently over time can change your practice. All of Murray's books are great too!
Thinking fast and slow by Kahnemann. Sapiens by Harari. Anything by Matt Ridley.
"The Millonnaire Next Door" one of the best books for an advisor to read. New or old.
I would never tell a new financial advisor they should read Freaknomics and Superfreakonomics. Don't get me wrong, they are good books. But not applicable to this business.
Kind of unrelated @Wells 2 but wanted to ask how you cultivated a relationship with a Mentor. Would very much like one in my career!
@Vanguard 1 I started out in a WF training program which pairs you with a senior advisor to work the lower part of their book. In some cases this "mentorship" doesn't amount to much , in my case it proved to be very valuable. I got pretty lucky in that regard.
Thanks for the heads up RBC!
