Also, what would be rent like for 2/3 bhk. Ideally my budget for rent would be <25k. Initially I will be going but in future my family will join me once I am settled. Any points to note or any other gotcha to keep in mind ? Please suggest.

It can depend on the circumstances surrounding it. I knew people who would sign things like that because it was maybe their first job in the field, and the company would be training or helping pay for it, so they wanted some kind of minimum commitment. Agree that it probably does get tricky sometimes.
I've heard of companies doing things like that just to try to pressure people into sticking around. But I've always assumed it's not really enforceable. You can't make someone work for you. I suppose you can try to impose some financial penalty, but I suspect that would be difficult to enforce if it got to court. But it's odd, some people will believe they can't leave a company, so tactics like that will sometimes work.
I got asked to sign a contract basically promising I’d stay. No bonus, no training, just commitment. I get that hiring is tough, but locking someone in before they even know if it’s a good fit feels off.
Please help me to find work
Go look at your state laws many of them are at Will. So if an employer in an at will work state is having you do this that is not legal to my knowledge. Does anybody else have data on this?
