Is seeing a therapist in US safe from an immigration perspective? With recent policy changes, I’m not sure how mental health records are treated. If anyone has experience with or recommendations for therapists in India who do virtual sessions, I’d really appreciate it.

I operated with the same anxiety you did and spent an entire year worth of sessions on cash with an American therapist. Did me a world of good, accelerated my career my confidence, probably the best $ I've spent as an adult - my only advice is if you've realized you need therapy no point in procrastinating just get it. Depending on who you get and how honest you are with the process it can be truly life changing.

The second year I realized I was over thinking the "having it on record" fear and switched to my insurance provider. Havent run into any issues, haven't come across a single professional document where I have to disclose if I was seeking therapy.

Good luck - go for it !

Goes without saying they can 100% help with anxiety but they cannot make the immigration issue go away. ICE will continue the raids and this admin may continue to implement restrictive policies. A therapist , India or US cannot treat someone of a specific political issue. They cannot tell you that it will go away, but they can help you accept it mentally.

But talking in general help. And they may guide you on coping mechanisms. Medical records are protected, but again, you are dealing with an administration that has no problems with sharing social security records. Point being , talk to a therapist but you must understand and accept the political landscape and have practical solutions in place.

I’m referring to this - https://www.murthy.com/2025/11/07/state-department-expands-health-based-grounds-for-visa-denials/ Mental health is one of them.

I dated someone 15 years older than me and he always lectured me about what did I do wrong. From small things like where to squeeze ketchup on my plate to big things like how to live my life and pivot to a career that his “friends” do so well in right now. Almost everything I did or said he’d follow with some criticism. I ghosted him after another lunch date full of such lectures.

Chicago 🐠: a friend is moving from CA to IL and is planning to rent a place somewhere in north burbs(Northbrook/Deerfield/Vernon Hills). He’s looking for 3+bd/2+ba townhomes/SFHs which will allow small dogs. Any advice on finding a broker? It seems Zillow or other portals are not very helpful at this moment. Any pointers are highly appreciated. TIA.

Y’all I am struggling on these “light” home improvement projects we decided to take on with a recent house purchase. Plan was just to replace carpets, paint some walls, and replace kitchen appliances. Now added on new faucets, other bathroom hardware / mirrors / toilets / medicine cabinets / exhaust fans, baseboard recaulking and cleanup, kitchen sliding door, ceiling fan rewiring and install, window replacements… how do I rein it in?? So stressed out and we keep delaying move in. 🤯😱😭

[I140 app. for Green card transfer] I have an approved i140 application at my previous employer. I have been at Google for 1.5 years and haven't started the GC transfer process here yet.
In an ideal world, I would be quitting this job and moving somewhere else that aligns better with my professional goals in the next 3 months.
Does it mandate me to have transfered my GC to Google or should I wait for the offer confirmation from the new employer and do it once for all there?
