It's one of those Mondays... everything feels urgent
... emails marked high priority, phone calls chasing, people at my desk waiting. I ended up skipping lunch (again). What is your go-to survival tactic when the day feels like a blur?

It's just a matter of prioritizing things and working through them. If everything seems urgent then nothing is urgent, so it's just a matter of determining in some real sense what comes first. If people have to wait for an answer they'll just have to learn to wait, I suppose.

That’s a good point. I really need to remind myself that if everything is marked urgent, then nothing truly is. I guess it’s about slowing down enough to figure out what actually matters first

One urgent and high-priority task at a time. Break up the larger things, and when I get through one piece of it, I feel like I accomplished something.

I like the idea of breaking things down into smaller pieces. On days like mine, even ticking off one chunk would feel like progress instead of just drowning in chaos

Sounds just like my minday today. The day went so quickly because I was so busy. We were understaffed so didn't get the chance to go for lunch until 2, and by then there's no point.

By the time lunch rolls around late, it hardly feels worth it. I really need to get better at protecting that break before the day runs away with me

Yes one urgent task at a time, if some take less time than the others quickly smash them out rather than spending more of your morning on say 2 bigger tasks - that’s what helps me but I guess it does depends on the urgency of the tasks.

That's smart. I tend to dive straight into the big things and then feel like I'm not getting anywhere. Knocking out the smaller tasks first might help me feel less buried before tackling the bigger ones.

Currently stuck in risk but interested in Cyber. Have done one related engagement from a regulatory perspective. But a lot of posts here making me think it’s harder to break into than I expected (non-technical background). If you had a six sigma green belt / supply chain degree/exp., would you still go through the effort of going into Cyber or take easy risk money being offered / easier transition back to supply chain? 2-3 YOE and trying to decide career course, any advice highly appreciated

I’m have a new theory about why juniors always feel like idiots and wanted to see if anyone else thinks this makes sense. I’m a third year, and am the most junior person all of my teams (generally me, a senior or two, and a partner or two), and I always feel like I’m messing something up. Is this just because I never get to work with other juniors and don’t see the mistakes they make, and that it’s relatively normal? And FWIW I went to HYS and I’ve had a clerkship so it’s not like I’m not smart

Mid sized shop is trying to save $$$ and using it as an ATS, but it doesn’t seem to deliver (IMO)…. What are the pros?

I had very positive feedback on my interviews for a S&O role but the team hired someone internally. If I interview again for a differenr role, would I have to do all the interviews again or can I use some of the scores from previous interviews. I understand doing RRK again makes sense but what about GCA, googlyness or leadership . Thank you
