Well, first of all, you're definitely not alone. I was laid off 15 months ago and I've been treating "applying like a full-time job" pretty much ever since and nada. Still looking. I'm working part-time to help with bills, but it's wearing me down. So please know you're not the only one. I have a third interview coming up this week so I'm hopeful, and I'm sure you'll find something too :) Just gotta keep going!
I think the best tip is to just stick to the fundamentals. If you're not getting interviews, punch up your resume. If you're getting interviews but no offers, work on your presentation. Just remember that it's always a competition and you have to outpace whoever the other candidates for a job may be. If you have a competitive streak, pull your motivation from there and just stay persistent.
The lack of motivation definitely hits me weekly and it can lead to burning out but I'm staying strong. I'm trying new techniques like narrowing the search to specific roles I'm targeting and revamping my resume to each role. Maybe try that if you haven't already.
After I got laid off, I thought I’d bounce back quickly, but months passed and nothing stuck. What helped me was volunteering for a nonprofit while job hunting. It gave me structure, made me feel useful again, and ended up connecting me to someone who referred me for a paid opportunity.
