Asking for a friend: Associate attorney with 2290 billable requirement and $119,000 annual salary in the Bay Area in California. Reasonable?
Currently working in industry, but I received a McK offer for an associate role with total comp slightly higher than what I would be making next year in industry (~$5-10k higher). The offer is in line with the associate level comp I can find online and I wasn’t able to negotiate for any more. Wondering if it’s worth it to accept from a personal development standpoint? In other words: current McK consultants - if it wasn’t for the money do you enjoy doing what you do/feel like it’s fulfilling? 🙏
I have a fun but happy ending story. I moved to NYC and joined a very well-established bankruptcy practice. Felt confident about the fit. I worked my ass off. I did my associate duties. And Whether through luck, fate, or talent, I brought in a very large matter: over 1.3 million in billing. The firm waited until first month billing was approved by the court and then fired me (3 months fake severance). Gave me no compensation. Joined a new firm now. Taking the matter away with me. 🤣😂
I have 2.2 YOE and about to be promoted to Associate @ 130k +10% bonus. How does that compare to market?
First year associate in litigation offered an assistant in-house role for the construction division of a real estate development company. Asked to send an offer letter detailing my salary and benefit requirements. Don’t know where to begin. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
The managing parter told me yesterday that “It takes about one year before a junior associate makes the firm any money.” Do you think this is true? I’ve been practicing for 6 months, 1800 billable minimum. $75k salary. Small ID firm.
My salary just got frozen @ 55.5k (SALT Tax, 1 year of experience). Should I start interviewing for other jobs? Worth it to stay 1 more year and “maybe” make senior? (PwC is 3 yrs to senior standard, 2 yr is early) I have a Master’s in Accounting, and have 1 more CPA test then I’ll be done. Not sure if I have a strong enough resume to receive decent exit opportunities as a first year associate. I’m about to have busy season again and work 60,70,80,90 hour weeks at my low salary. Please advise!!
Now that flexing has become common: 31 year old senior associate, net worth of -$15k, salary of $80k, career in flames, renters destroyed my only property. AMA
Any other campus hires here? I feel like we are underpaid compared to our associate peers with maybe more experience (understandably). Would staying internal to a firm keep me on the campus hire salary path or would jumping ship be the move for a big boost in salary?
Am I being overworked/underpaid as a first year associate at a midsize firm in Chicago? ($67,5 salary, 2100 billable hours) it feels like a good starting point but I’m uprooting my life to start here
Have an offer for associate at McK as an experienced hire which I am grateful for, but bonus seems off from quoted norm. Details are 165k base, 30k sign-on, 7.5% retirement, but bonus is 15k annualized. Offer letter says this is rated at strong for first year and then will be re-evaluated. Is this a normal associate variable comp amount? Offer is in Ops service line if that matters.
75k salary with 180 hours a month billable for a civil premier defense firm......seems a little low on $$$ for the billables ...I’m a second year associate ....any thoughts?
I know this is going to sound tone deaf given the current state of things, but can anyone provide a range for what an associate consultant end of year bonus can range from? It's my first year.
I’m a 2nd yr associate at mck and thinking about decision to switch to big tech or remaining at the firm. Given my financial goals, comp is a key element in my plan. What’s the best way to think about this switch? Esp for a 3-5 year time horizon? When i see my MBA peers at big tech now, I feel they have better lifestyle AND pay.
Recently got promoted from Associate to Consultant. Compensation went from $87K base $15K bonus —> $92K base and $20K bonus. How is that raise?
I'm currently a Sr associate (post MBA) at a strategy firm but received an offer to work as a director at a marketing consulting firm. Comp is the same overall. thoughts on what should I do?
For any attorneys who started at boutique/smaller firms - what was your salary as a First Year Associate?
25 y/o. Been working for a startup for 2.5 years after graduating undergrad in 2017. Started as an intern. Salary for the first 2 years went from $55K to $78K. Now I’m at $95K and scheduled for a promotion to associate, salary expected to be $120-140K. I have no idea where I’m at in terms of relations to market (salary and progression)... can anyone at a BB help me out?
Pro tip: Micromanaging other people's teams is not the way to show you're worthy of a promotion. It just makes less people want to work for you.
Is there a firm where it’s common to be able to keep “normal people” hours? My husband is sick and i need to take care of him. I’m at Rosslyn from 9-7ish every day then still have 2-3 more hours of
Can I be fired for taking mat leave shortly (<1yr) after starting at a big4? I know federal protection only applies after 1 year at the firm but how realistic is it that I could be fired?
Does Elie Tahari go on sale often? Currently upto 70% off but I’ve never shopped there before and these items are on final sale. On the other hand, I don’t want to miss a pretty major discount. (I also have a relatively unique body shape with a 34G bust and a short-ish torso)
I am currently dating my Ex-Client with whom I had worked 2 years ago. Do i need to inform Deloitte compliance ?
How does Deloitte know if anyone own stocks if they don’t report. I know a colleague who does that. Should I report ?
Any recommendations for a sexy workout mask? EQX opened back up and they're requiring masks, even while crushing it on the spin bike (you'll get water boarded with normal masks). Something black plz
Looking to leave consulting for product ops, associate product mgmt. roles. Anyone have suggestions for tailoring my resume? What are the “dos and don’ts”?
Ugh this title harmonization... Way too many freaking layers. Hard to know who's "senior" and who's not
My EM expenses personal international trips to the project. He also flies from NYC to Boston and then take the train to the client site but asks everyone else to take the train/drive from NYC.
