I'm a big proponent of job hopping to get promotions. Sometimes you come across people who don't want to help you grow and no amount of company loyalty or overperformance is going to make them value you. There's no reason to hold yourself back, you should at least explore your options
From my personal experience, you have two types of bosses ones that want to help themselves grow, and the ones that are motivated for the whole group of people that work below them. It’s really hard to find the second one in corporate work environments. Hotels specifically I’ve personally found it’s very hard to move up because they form each position as is. Each hotel position unless already a manager is meant to be stationary
Obviously you know your boss better than I do so I can't really speak to their character, but some people really are just self-interested and aren't looking out for others. Sad, but true. If you already got the impression you got the most you can expect out of working there, then yes I suggest you consider leaving, preferably for a higher paying position elsewhere
I have a question about hotel work . I heard its hard to get promoted in hotel industry unless your in Nevada or NY ? Im in NC . What do you cap out in
If you are willing to relocate promotion is very open also you have to work for one of the larger management companies
Get out. You deserve better.
Honestly that is just Aimbridge everyone at corporate level on daily basis tries to prove their worth, so they love giving GM busy work that they barely even use. As a GM I love when staff ask is there anything I can help with? Also actually look at your audit packs and learn the reports, offer to help with billing issues or review responses.
I feel like that’s why I was pushed out because I was making the changes the dc asst and the dc manager couldn’t make in the many years they’ve been there our OT was the lowest line outs were the lowest it’s ever been and they did something unlawful to get me out for making them look bad
Worked for for the aimbridge company many years ago. It's super hard to get promotions with them
