I've been carefully writing and tweaking cover letters for every application, but I'm starting to think they are being ignored. They feel like a waste of time and effort, tbh. Do recruiters actually look at these?

Not sure, but you're doing this wrong. Pay the $30 for a Chat GPT or Claude subscription. You can knock out cover letter and resume tweaks in like 6 minutes.

I feel like everyone doing that though

With so few job opportunities out there right now, you have to take every possible chance of being the one who is called for an interview. Even if many hiring managers do not read cover letters, it may be a deciding factor when it comes down to a more select group of candidates.

I seriously want to believe that happens for someone

In many sales roles, yes, they are often skimmed or skipped. A strong CV and referral usually matter more. If you use them, keep them sharp and role specific, not generic essays.

I know it's going to be different for everyone, but at one point after your first child did you go back to work? Thinking of kids, and trying to wrap my head around what's normal, and what to expect with budgeting post delivery. Wife says 6 months after regardless of parental leave to recover. Then she wants to ease into it with part time work. Thoughts?

Does anyone know how to break a rental lease agreement if the landlord does not fix the window in the unit? I moved into a apartment few months back and have been having just issues in the apartment, there is a defective window from which cold air has been leaking. This has become very problematic now that peak winters are here. I want to break the lease without penalty, appreciate any suggestions or legal options.
