I was sent home yesterday cause they saw I was unwell. I never told them it was my period, for me is very painful lately. So it depends, not everyone goes through it the same way. Just don’t mention is your period
It’s such a shame though that as soon as you mention it’s a period it’s seen as invalid, but before they knew it was fine to go home!
A period itself shouldn’t be a reason to miss work but context is everything.. eg people with certain medical conditions (that may not be diagnosed yet as typically it takes years for a diagnosis) will suffer crippling symptoms at the time of their period which would absolutely be a reason not to work at that time
It’s so difficult because pain is relevant. I agree that a normal healthy period probably isn’t a big enough reason to take time off, but if you’re needing to be on constant pain meds to make it through the day, definitely a valid reason for time off.
It makes me wish that WFH options were available for our period weeks. Even with a normal period, it would be nice to not have to change out tampons, etc in an office restroom. I know that dives down into a whole other rabbit hole where I’m sure men would complain about not getting that week WFH. But a girl can wish
