I mean, I feel like capitalism promotes this idea. Nobody should ever be satisfied with where they're at, they should always be looking for the next thing because that will solve all your problems. I've definitely played into this game and realized it doesn't ever make you happy!
I totally agree! The push for more can feel endless. Sometimes, a promotion just brings extra stress. It’s easy to forget that happiness doesn’t always come from climbing higher.
I believe that type of thinking gets pushed in society, but I've never taken it too seriously. I've wanted promotions because the pay was better, but I never assumed it would change my life in some profound way. I'd still be working in the same organization, just in somewhat different circumstances.
It’s true that society pushes the idea of constant climbing. I also think promotions are often about better pay, not life changes.
I can totally relate to that! I've chased promotions before, thinking it would be the key to happiness. But often, it just brought more stress and responsibilities. I think it’s important to focus on what truly fulfills us, rather than just the next title. Sometimes, finding satisfaction in our current role can be more rewarding than climbing the ladder. Thanks for bringing up this important topic!
I completely relate! Chasing promotions often leads to more stress, not happiness.
