There are a lot of opportunities out there! I would check out backstage.com. You can get access to casting calls and voice acting as well. (I am based in LA, so I am not sure if this is something specific just for LA, but worth checking out!)
thanks for the rec I'll check it out!
Every time acting has fewer problems with age, the best advice I can give you is to find an agent to project your intentions of acting.
Great call, I'll start looking into where to hire agents and how to find a good one!
The best characters I've seen in the last 50 movies I've seen are older characters, I'm sure of that and that leads me to think that you have many opportunities for success, don't hesitate to dedicate yourself to this.
If you have never had direct experience with acting, I invite you to start with theater, additionally, look for a representative, exhaust all resources, and try it.
I've done some theater before but I had to give it up for a while...
You'll definitely have your work cut out for you, but it's not impossible. Like someone else suggested, I'd definitely get an agent, as you don't have time to waste waiting for your big break. Here are a few actors who might inspire you. Good luck! https://www.menshealth.com/entertainment/g28721959/celebrities-big-break-later-in-life/
Check out local MeetUp and theatre groups! I've taken community college acting classes that were a done of fun and a great way to network with people with similar creative interests.
Audition loads! There are lots of parts available in this age group, you might be able to land a commercial or two. I like the MeetUp idea suggested above as well
The first step is to attend an acting school or workshop. This will give you the basic skills that you need in order to start auditioning for roles. Additionally, it's important to get involved in the theatre community and build up your network of contacts.
You can take classes, audition for roles, and network with other actors and industry professionals. You can also find mentors or other experienced actors who can help you navigate the industry and improve your skills. It's important to stay dedicated and committed to pursuing a career in acting and always to keep learning and growing as an actor.
I may not know you personally, but can I just say that I feel so proud of you for choosing to follow this path after retiring. You're truly never too old to start pursuing something! Start out with acting classes if you can find any in your area. That's a great way to meet fellow acting aspirants and to network yourself for smaller roles like advertisement and commercial shoots. Stay on the lookout for auditions. Good luck!
Have you had any acting experience before? If the answer is no, you can still start with attending acting workshops. Once you've learned the basics, you can definitely start creating your demo reel. Also, prepare an audition piece. Oh and don't forget your headshots!
Take acting classes, audition for roles in independent films to have clips for reels. Then get headshots taken. Start submitting to agencies.
I ask this a lot of times at 33 lol if you find anything let us all know
Hmm. Do you know someone in the industry? They might be able to help you.
Audition for projects!
Or you can write your own script and make it with yourself in it!
This is something I’ve thought about as well for when I retire.
