I think just a calendar block for an hour per day is totally appropriate. I do it all the time just to think or get stuff I’ve been procrastinating about done. I also started to use my Monday’s for trainings and to organize my work week, and it has helped so much.
That is called self prioritization! Well done!!
This is an extremely smart move. Keep these times as yours and never sacrifice these times for a meeting.
It’s wild that we have to lie to protect our time in the same jobs that praise “deep work” and “focus.”
This is something everybody should do. It is a best practice.
I once worked at a job where I did that and I STILL got pinged. I was at my desk on an actual Zoom call and someone came up and started chatting to me and asking me for things while I was on camera. It was unreal.
Many people in my area, have chairs next to their desks. An open invitation for anybody to come over and sit down. I chose not to do that. None of my peers noticed until one day one of them was complaining to me about how many interruptions they got and all of a sudden realize I never had people at my desk because I did not have a chair. They were shocked!
Coming back in the office after being remote for over three years I did have a learning curve to go through where I didn’t think people were on a call because I could not see a headset, but then noticed that they had earbuds and made it a priority to always assume somebody was on a call.
This helped me personally immensely because then I was not interrupting when I may have been prior.

Wow! That’s a genius idea, I’m finding “do not disturb” doesn’t work at all so definitely should start doing this.

Me and a colleague will do this every so often so we can go out for a walk to ensure we get some air, probably not normal but defo works for us
