This is why younger employees are crucial in the marketing space. Baby boomers may have the most buying power, but Gen Z is rapidly growing and also covers nearly 40% of our consumer spending, then add millennials into the mix… TikTok has a massive ROI because it’s the search engine, commercial, magazine, billboard, ad (you name it) for the younger generations. Traditional marketing feels fake and forced to a millennial and Gen Z buyer, so they look to organic, real content and reviews, people they admire or want to be like that they feel they have a “genuine connection” with, or the typical “see it, want it, buy it.” It’s constantly in their faces, so buying is 4x more likely. It’s like Target for example, you don’t go because you know you’ll spend way too much money because it somehow entices you; or the mall. If you don’t go, you don’t spend. However, the average TikTok user is active on the platform at least 95 minutes a day. That’s 95 minutes of being “at Target” trying not to be influenced to buy something you don’t need. It’s a numbers game! And basic psychology. Haha.
Going viral is as simple as having one good video. Plus, the numbers can keep growing and growing, as long as your content is engaging. TikTok in itself may not give you a lot (if any) money, but what you will get out if it is worth a million bucks.
With so many users, businesses can quickly and easily reach a large audience with their content. And with the app's new features, businesses can now create more engaging content that will really resonate with users. It is a win-win for everyone if used well.
