I’ve worked in life insurance operations for almost a decade and have started thinking about what’s next. I’m curious if a move into product or customer experience would be a stretch or a natural evolution. Has anyone here made that jump from back office to a more strategic role? I’d really appreciate any insight on how you sold your transferable skills.

So someone I know asked HR about a boot policy. When he found out that there wasn’t one, but his boss said there was (who gave the guys $ for boots and the claimed it on his expense reimbursements as something else) the boss got mad at him for askingHR (and in trouble for the expense reimbursements) and then 2 days later laid off my friend. There appears to be no notice of bad performance and this person always was the first person on the job site ready to work. Thoughts?

Any other sober folks in the sales world who can give me some advice? Really struggling to keep up with the office culture when happy hour is impossible for me. 1.5 years sober and want to stay that way.

Can we do part time job as a freelancer in another company if we already have a full time job.

I realized I've been a dummy for getting a job at a creative agency and not working on my portfolio. Most of the projects I've taken on, I've done so as a way to support others without taking much credit for it. Now, a better opportunity came along and I don't have anything to show for my talent as a designer. ALWAYS take credit for what you do, even if it's not your project to begin with.

Why does it seem like there are two types of creatives...

The chill one with the most relaxed approach where they almost come off monotone.

The one who has too much energy and noticeable anxiety.

How do I get a job as a Mechanical Engineer if I dont have experience?

I couldn’t get an internship while in school. I have a BS in ME and projects from school under my belt. I’ve also passed the FE exam. I’ve been mostly just doing CAD for a company for the last year by creating minimally dimensioned drawings and moving parts around in assemblies. I want to evolve in my career and be doing more. I worked so hard to earn my degree and I feel like I’m not even using it. But who will hire me?
