Bain & Company Hello, I received an offer as a Senior Practice Manager at Bain. The profit sharing range is 0-12% in the offer letter. Is it typical to receive the midpoint (6%)? Also, what do the annual salary increases typically look like? Any insights are much appreciated. Bain & Company Boston Consulting Group McKinsey & Company
Hi, I'm leaving Citi in 2 months. It's hard to make this decision. I have an offer from a small startup. In citi, my previous experience was not considered and was reskilled to different tech which is the reason for change.I don't like to exit citi. As I like the company so much. But considering my current knowledge,I am in the middle of the sea.I am afraid now that the new company's offer would be revoked due to this recession?Or can I take back my resignation in citi before the last working day.Is this wise decision?

This. I’ve heard several people ask to be paid for their time for a take home project for an interview, especially if it’s related to the role / business, and most got it approved (or they changed the project to be indirectly related).
There’s rarely a “spec project” during the interview process that only takes “a few hours”… not literally. Or it shouldn’t IMHO.
I’ve done it several times before. Spent a ton of time on both, but shared with hiring managers that neither were good examples of what I could bring to the table because it was work done in a vacuum.
Our industry relies on having all the important info and context upfront, tools to do your job well (and may not have access to on a personal level, depending on role), and collaboration to make good ideas even better. You don’t know what you don’t know.
Got an offer in one case and didn’t in another. But I didn’t end up taking the offer because I was already freelancing elsewhere and got a FT offer from them once I shared I got an offer from the other place (which was a much lower offer btw).
TBH they both left a bad taste in my mouth.
Do you want to work for a place that expects “free” work from you upfront?
Will they give away the agency’s work for free too? If so, how will that impact their profitability (and, thus, your salary).
Are there other options to show your thinking (portfolio, decks, writing examples, etc)?
This is a red flag for a job that will likely not pan out. No matter how excited you are, unless you’re applying for the CEO role, assessing your skills for the position doesn’t take 5 SEPARATE interviews AND an assignment to determine. I think I even saw a thread where a spec idea was used in the real commercial, (without pay/permission). I know what the market’s like these days but even so, I’d bow out if they don’t agree to pay you a small amount for the spec work. They should practically start paying you for all the countless interview time. Good luck.
As a fellow parent I feel this completely
Make sure you *note at the bottom of EVERY page that they cannot use any portion of the information provided in your presentation unless they contract you or hire you full time.
Would you mind DM’ing me the name of the sh*tshow agency/company this is so I can avoid ever applying there?
It doesn't matter if they "honor" the slide. When they use it, and you sue them, they can't say they didn't know it wasn't their IP.
Just say no!
If they ask you for free work, shit on em. Name and shame.

I did a spec project for an experiential agency once. Spent the entire weekend doing it. I covered all bases from strategy to deck design to rendering to cost roll out, etc. they were blown away only to be told that they are not sure I’d be the right fit for the role. Turned out they never hired for the role. I will never do that shit again unless they are paying me how me time. Anyway, I hope you fare better than I did just did.
You’re not the only one! So remember that. It might be 5 candidates working on this “special project”.
Feels like they’re dragging you through a hiring freeze hoping money becomes available.
So how do you plan on doing work for them? All evenings, that’s not going to work them.
