Ladies - how do you navigate friendships at work, especially with friends who are super competitive (professionally)? To clarify: I don’t see being competitive as a bad trait per se, a lot of lawyers are (I am too!). The situation: someone I’m close with since law school (we were super tight all three years) is lateraling over to my law firm soon (same year and practice). I want to make sure it doesn’t get weird once she joins. Tips?

I would end any friendships if I didn’t trust them. Additionally, if I were to see anything that would give me reason to believe that they were trying to throw me under the bus to elevate themselves, I would end that friendship so fast. There is no need to compete against each other. Just do your job to the best of your ability.

I’m really competitive, a former collegiate athlete, and I am all for inclusive competition. If that person has a greater skillset, I see it as an opportunity to learn. My confidence isn’t rattled by competition, I see it as a growth tool. I should also note, I hired someone who became my peer within a year. She is brilliant and I knew she would benefit our team. We had a few moments of tension, but we were both open and vulnerable when it happened. That allowed us to grow through those moments. I trust her more now because of it.

Is it worth considering a career in Restructuring Consulting in the long term given that their work can be quite cyclical and hinges on the spectrum of the economy.
Or have I misunderstood this? Are the teams always busy with projects?

Which advisory group has the least travel out of AAS, FDD/TAS, and risk advisory? Or is it all dependent on the client and team nowadays? And is the travel schedule comparable to consulting? (ex. M-Th on a plane)

What will be the case if client doesn't like my performance.

Will they release me from there project before contract ends or any action in terms of termination from job will be taken by client or Nagarro.
