That is hard for everyone including the employee. you can put her on a formalized HR documented PIP, start the disengagement process now.
Just went through this. Team of 2, me and him. Reached out to my manager and HR regarding poor deliverables. Then Started to use formal language about things, and documenting convos (essentially sending him a recap of what we agreed would get done) and he was just about to get formal notice about being placed on a PIP and he gave notice. It has been 5 months and I am STILL uncovering things that he was supposed to do but didn’t.
Start this if you haven't already
Tell her that her behavior is creating more work for you and is not helping the team. Give specific examples. Once you have the conversation, document it so that you can easily move through the process of verbal warning, written warning, PIP, termination.
Always remember that you do not have to figure out how to manage someone who’s not performing. Lean on the tools that HR gives you. Best of luck.
