You’re not paranoid. You’re doing yourself a favor. Pharma may not be the sexiest job, but it’s still a job and who knows how many creative gigs will still be around in a few years.
This and because Pharma is the most stable industry you can work on agency side

You’re being smart. Many years down the road from now, you’ll be much more grateful to have money in the bank than a bunch of dusty awards trinkets lying around.
Smart of you build a financial base. I started out in general market for years too (also includes R/GA when it was legit), so I have the strong conceptual foundation one needs to do what you’re asking.
Now I go back-and-forth between general and pharma easily.

If you can make more money and with more job security, why would you want to leave?
You could always leave it off your resume and say you've been freelancing.
You won’t go back. But you’ll have more stability and money.
I ask this with genuine curiosity: does the creative work for pharma actually matter? Like, it needs work to fill a slot, but they don’t sell more or less based on pharma ads, right?
@akqa 1 it was only 1 tub at first and MLR pushed back and said the drug doesn’t make you more desirable so we changed it to 2 in spite of them. Best decision since it was one of the most remembered spots in Pharma history 😎
