No accrual here either. It has to be used within the calendar year. From my understanding, most employers around here have the same policy.
After you’ve been with us for six months, you’re eligible for a week of PTO. Then PTO increases one day for every year you’re with us. It is PTO and not vacation time.
We have an accrual method with a cap. Previously I’ve only experienced Use It or Lose It, which depending on the industry, could put you in a pickle during the holidays.
We call Vacation, Personal, and Sick PTO, but they each have their own bucket. Vacation and sick time can roll over year after year up to a certain level. Personal time is use it or lose it. If an employee leaves the organization, we only pay out the remaining vacation hours.
