Are you me? Did I write this in my sleepy dazed state after pulling multiple all nighters because my support staff only pretends to be busy?
If you’re not having weekly or at least bi-monthly meetings with your team regarding cases and next steps, then that’s kind of on you. Everyone should know their roles and get their work done. If not, axe em
Meetings occur weekly, tasks are delegated and acknowledged, clear deadlines and priorities are discussed… but the tasks that are done are not the ones assigned. I guess I was trying to see if it’s a question of understanding or failure in communication but now saying this I guess I’ve kinda answered my own question
YEP!! Have no clue what she does all day. She chooses when she wants to be involved in a matter and it’s 1000% inconsistent….I don’t need that added stress so I just do everything myself.
I bill 2500+ hours a year and seek out assignments, clarification and feedback.
Based on your description it doesn’t sound like the problem is you. Does this paralegal work with anyone else? If so, are they having the same experience as you? Might be time to get HR involved.
Yes, they were ultimately terminated. They were abusing work from home and not actually doing any work, but billing a bunch. Took like a month to get a medical summary and billed like 200 hours. In my experience WFH has lead to decrease in productivity from non-attorney staff. The not so smart ones are easy to spot.
Did you hire my old paralegal? 👀
Time for a new paralegal.
Just need to carefully explain to mp how it is severely impacting the ability to get work product done. The volume of billing when compared to actual substantive things done is egregious
