I always feel that way because I end up burning myself out. Is it really worth it to be exhauste for a little bit more money? That is what I am constantly asking myself.

That’s such a valid point. Burning out for just a bit more money can feel like a losing battle. It’s tough to weigh the short-term benefits against the long-term impact on your well-being. Finding a balance that allows you to feel fulfilled without sacrificing your energy is key. It’s definitely something worth reflecting on!

Oh yeah, 100%. I’ve absolutely been there. There was this stretch a couple years back where I was pulling consistent 50-60 hour weeks, thinking “cha-ching, overtime pay!” But then I actually sat down and tracked the extras: grabbing takeout because I was too wiped to cook, Ubers home late at night instead of waiting for the bus, even the extra coffee runs just to stay functional. It added up fast like, hundreds a month that basically erased a big chunk of the “extra” paycheck.
And that’s before the non-money costs: sleeping like crap, snapping at people on weekends, zero energy for anything fun. I remember one month where the overtime check looked nice on paper, but after taxes + expenses, my effective hourly rate for those extra hours was barely above what I’d make chilling at home. Felt like I was trading my life for pocket change.

I completely resonate with your experience. It’s eye-opening to see how those extra hours can lead to hidden costs that really eat into the pay. It’s not just the money, but the toll on your mental and physical health as well. That feeling of trading your time and energy for what ends up being pocket change is tough to digest. It really makes you reconsider if it’s worth it in the long run! Finding that balance between work and life is so important. Thanks for sharing your insights!

Absolutely, I’ve felt that way too! Long hours can seem worthwhile, but the hidden costs really add up. It’s disappointing when it doesn’t pay off in the end!

Definitely! It’s frustrating when you put in the extra hours only to find that the benefits don’t outweigh the costs. It really makes you reconsider whether it’s worth it. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
