Make sub work worth points. Ask the sub to sign the turned in work as a receipt. Mark it in the grade book. Depending on the assignment you can make it extra credit, an all or none thing. It is worth the effort.

Why would not look at the work you assign students when you have a sub? I would never put a sub in a situation where the students know that the work they are expected to do will not be thought about twice.

Exactly. But it happens. Then the behavior is off the hook.

Hi everyone

I had HR round today for TCS, Everything was ok until HR offer salary, offering 11.5 for 4 yoe in automation testing, Current package is 7.65. I have said ok and she said i will receive offer letter in 7-10 days but i am not convinced with that offer.
I am thinking to reject that as it is very low and i can't put papers based on that low of a package.

Any suggestions??

Google forms make for great exit tickets. Of course this only works if your students all have a device. Hard copy exit tickets can become unmanageable, depending on class sizes and frequency.

Start each class with a few seconds of stillness. It takes consistent practice. Most students will blurt something silly out after about 4 seconds. Expect it and smile. After time is up ask students to notice what they were doing during that time. No shame. Notice and strive to be more still next.

1. Hands, feet, mouth, arms, legs still (a veritable challenge)
2. Close the eyes.
3. Long exhales to bring in the calming chemical acetylcholine.

To put it plainly, why don't we educators invest in our professional development?

We can’t have classroom management without taking care of ourselves first. Rest. Even if it’s for 2 minutes. We close our eyes and reset.
