Everyday. It calms me too. Smile when the goody kid gasps for air or makes a silly sound. Afterward, ask them to notice what they were doing: talking, writing, moving…just notice…no shame…then challenge to be still next time.
I do when we need to. I call for us to take a "Zen-moment" and we breathe to our zoom recording timer for 30 secs in counted breathes. In and out. Then we return to our work.
YES!! Kids are better prepared when their brains and bodies are calm, and breathing exercises help that immensely. Especially for little learners—it helps to develop that instant reaction to their emotions. They can better stop, think, then act.
