How do you deal with clients who act like they know more than you even though they don't?

Wait until the contract is fulfilled or over, then kick them to the curb. Have more confidence in your ability as a marketing expert. Clients should trust you to do your job and deliver results. If they act like they know more, then it’s a clear indicator they don’t trust you like they should and it’s not a great fit.

Thank you, it's tough when the client is playing so much money and they're just impossible to deal with. Feels like they got all the leverage and we just gotta suck it up for the sake of everyone else here

Agree with M1. If a client acts like they know more than you, then why would they even hire you in the first place? Worms for brains, I say! I would not keep working with that client.

Exactly, but you can only say so much to them when they're tossing so much money your way lol

Clients are something else sometimes... they think Marketing is easy and decide they can just do it themselves, even if they have a hired team for it.

Yup everyone knows everything and they never want to listen. What am I here for then if they know how to do everything better and faster????

Is this a client that brings in a lot of money to the table? If they do, sadly deal with it by ignoring them and doing your job, but if they're not contributing much, then cut ties immediately. It obviously does no one a favor if clients behave like this.

Yup, big client with big money bags. Guess you just gotta suck it up sometimes

Wondering if it’s just my v20 firm but it is so annoying when you have to work for incompetent partners that do not have the capability or stamina to do the work, but have one client or bring in one large matter every couple years. I got promoted, but so did the other guy. We’re on a small team and all I can do is compare myself to him and obsess over what that conversation must have looked like. Who was closer? Who was better? Etc.

I know it’s dumb. We both got what we wanted and he’s AWESOME! It’s totally fair, but has anyone else struggled with this? Just checking.

How do you handle micro managers? I’m a second year transactional associate and for the most part the partners and senior associates I work for trust me to get the work done. But this one guy is constantly checking up on me, asking for status of deliverables long before the deadlines he gave me, and just generally pestering me on everything I do. I am going to go insane if don’t figure out a way to stop this.

Hi y’all! Hope this is the right bowl to post this question and get advice. I am dealing with an employer that preaches our values. The owner states that the values are important to her etc yet my manager violates these values and is involved in unethical behavior frequently. Example 1: My manager has told specialists (resourcers) that she will pay them under the table in order for her (manager) to get full credit vs splitfor the placement and therefore (barely) hit her target for the quarter.

I feel like I don't fit in with the upper middle class culture of accounting sometimes. I come from a lower middle class family, and it's hard to relate to the things my coworkers talk about - fancy houses, fancy cars, new gadgets that they are getting. I never grew up with those things, so I'm a little lost or it just don't seem that important to me. Perhaps I'm being judgemental, but I don't mean to be, it seems like we just have different priorities. Can anyone relate or have advise?

I feel like my creative team is secretly criticizing me for asking them to build decks (their job) and make executive and client revisions (also their job). It’s making me feel like a bad producer, but I’m also wondering why aren’t they in a more cooperative or positive mood when we meet to talk about work?
This is the only project we are all on and I don’t understand why they make me feel like I’m asking for too much.

Has anyone else had a mentor (assigned to them by the Company) who seemed to have it out for you? I mean downright sabotage to make you look bad left and right. I didn’t realize it at first. She was fake friendly, but she was discrete too. Some of the executives thought she was amazing, but I had to clean up her work all the time. She wasn’t above me either on the chain of command. Later I found out she had tried for the exec assistant role and they didn’t choose her, they wanted me instead.

Recovered from Covid and luckily had mild symptoms overall. One symptom that started part way through & is still lingering is severe dry mouth at night. It's bad enough that it interrupts sleep. I stay hydrated, use a special mouth rinse & a humidifier, etc. But the dry mouth is still bad. I wake up every hour with a dry pasty feeling & have trouble swallowing. Dr doesn't have any new ideas. Taking a shot someone on here went through similar (or knows someone who did) and found a solution. TY

I worked as a technical PM for a medium-sized adtech company in NYC in charge of 2 technical teams, and the business intelligence team.

On Thursday I was informed by the lead Product Owner and the head of HR that leadership had decided that the project management office was no longer necessary for the company and all three of us, the director and the two technical PMs, were being let go. None of us were given any notice.

If you know of any opportunities I can apply for, please reach out.
