How old is your baby? I’ve found through all 4 of my kids that nothing really fixes this except time. Hang in there!!
Yep same! We also went on nutramigen but nothing really made a difference except time. I think she showed improvement by 4-6 months (but that time was a blur so I could be off!)
I went through this and, honestly, I just learned that everything we did to address the problem was to just calm our nerves (give us comfort that we were doing something) until she outgrew it. I'd say the thing that helped us the most was just accepting the situation and lowering our expectations.
Cool, OP. I wish you find a solution that works for you. Best of luck.
Since baby doesn't have the symptoms of CMPA that you've seen in your other children in the past, have you considered having her evaluated for oral restrictions which can cause her to take in air at feedings and impact her digestion?
Yes I highly highly recommend seeing a pediatric dentist or ENT that specializes in kids oral restrictions. How old is your baby?
For my first baby, the pediatrician said he had a slight tie but he was fine, despite our frustrations. When he started solids, he'd easily puke, the pediatrician said he had a sensitive gag reflex and would outgrow it. He didn't. After 18 months, he would still frequently get tripped up on food, gag, and puke. We had his tongue tie released at 2yo and he immediately could eat no problem. He hasn't puked since.
So for baby #2 when we had latch issues, we didn't hesitate and took baby at 3 weeks old and got a tongue and lip tie released. It wasn't as immediate, but it's greatly improved his eating and spitting up.
My third has CMPA, had tongue and lip ties revised, and is the most insanely spitty baby I’ve ever encountered. She’ll soak a shirt hours after eating. We just do a lot of laundry.
Really, only time helped. I just had to prepare for the mess and laid burp clothes everywhere for a couple weeks. I had a happy spitter so she was still gaining weight despite all the spit up.
Because our other kiddos had the mucus and bloody stools. Her only symptom is literally spit up. And I'm a bit miffed the doctor told us to try an even thinner formula. It's been two weeks and no improvement. It's also annoying because she's gaining weight but that doesn't mean there isn't a problem.
I used the Tucker wedge which was a lifesaver for us.
Have you tried / been prescribed Famotidine or Omeprizole? My baby had the same, and we tried Famotidine (did nothing), and got upped to Omeprizole which helped tremendously. We’re now weaning off at 6 months.
It’s natural, it will pass with time
