Yes in this brutal job only the established and experience nurses will get daytime work. You have to pay your dues too
It’s hard because a majority of people want daytime hours. Usually if day hours open they are taken by other staff already at the facility. Best of luck to you!!!
A new LPN can never lack a job,
Just 2 advices,
1) apply to at least 3 companies,
2) Try to find a friend in that company who is a coordinator,, to assign good cases for u.
(3) U can apply for HHA , positions just to keep it going cos someone must pay d bills
A LPN can still do a CNA, or HHA job while waiting for ur LPN job to get ready
My friend is HHA n hits 9200 k every month
can u believe this?
has are needed desperately. Mileage reimbursement and ect. Be willing to work in I undervalued positions.
Just take the 3:00-11:00 shift and day shift will open. Not to be mean or to induce bullying BUT in my experience it is nearly impossible to come into nursing with demands. Get your footing in a different shift. Make it work.
I've been an RN for 34 years and recently had to take a a MLOA from my job of 3 years due to hx of chronic extreme low back pain for 5 1/2 months. I had months of PT and every injection and procedure that could be done. I was paid for the first 3 months after using all my PTO by short term disability then had to extend the leave and a new supervisor was hired when our original DON had to retire quickly. Well this new DON took my position away from me when I needed a few extra days off for one more outpatient surgery to my back after she initially stated verbally she would wait another week. She literally called me while I was in post-op and the nurse got my phone and she said she was posting my position because she hadn't heard from me yet that morning. It was only 10am and I had just woken up from anesthesia 15 minutes prior!! She then stated i could stay on per diem but said I had to first go in and train as the unit charge nurse ( because they couldn't keep in nurse to fill the position) and refused to let me pick up open staff nurse shifts she said until I learned the charge nurse position. She had me train one shift then didn't schedule me to train for the past 3 weeks until this week for one evening shift and then this evening put me as charge nurse by myself as well as do all admissions and said i could not continue to work there unless I did the job a 100% and also after being cleared to return to work by my own doctor and the occupational health department at my hospital she had stated she still didn't feel comfortable allowing me to work my regular position as a staff nurse and stated she has been checking in with my coworkers and received reports " I was unsteady on my feet" and didn't feel safe to allow me to care for patients. I don't know how any of this is legal and not to mention my back is pretty much pain free , I am walking better then i have in a few years. I'm reaching out to an attorney tomorrow but feel she is going to terminate me as I admit because of very little training I was not completely sure of all my duties in the charge nurse roll and had to ask coworkers for assistance at times. I have never been terminated, given a bad reference from any position/supervisor or been treated so horribly in my career as i have been by this supervisor.
Chief
I’ve noticed that for the most part, nurses with more seniority get the first pick at their desired shift. Newer nurses kinda get what’s left 😅
Keep looking it’s jobs out there. I know a lot of clinics do daytime
As a,caregiver in Washington DC for n being in d health field for a while, I,ve been skeptical about this job especially when u go into people's home to render assistance to them.
Sometimes, most of these clients become too hostile, insult n abuse their aides , and nothing is done,, someone who sleeps in a small hospital bed in a one bedroom apartment that stinks n dirty,, shouts on someone who lives a better life than u n has come to ur house to help , U are reduced to a mere house boy or girl n family members order u arround like a kid
Has someone ever gone through this humiliation?
I did home care for 8 years and only saw this a few times. You can’t help those who don’t want to be helped.
Work for a travel nurse nurse registry it will help you go to facilities and they will hire you eventually. Plus, you get the feel of which facilities you prefer to go to work for.
When my daughter was an LPN, she got a days position in a SNF right away. She had excellent mentors, and I think it helped her to grow into who she is today.
I do know that there are apps that you can go on so that you can go to different places and get the hours that you want I'm just not sure what apps they are ask around
Clipboard health and Nursa are the 2 apps you can use to find shifts and pick where are you wanna go and what ship to preferred work. They both have search tools to find what you are looking for and what city, what shift? What day to work you can pick what you want it’s very flexible.
And there you can find facilities go to them to work and then they will probably possibly hire you if you’d like to work there.
I don’t know why you’re having a hard time finding a position usually they like to train new nurses on dayshift first.
