How long until Doane Grant Thornton remains a partnership? Talk about fragmentation…
P1 - yes the Global Mobility sale for what became Vialto Partners did lead to cash payments for the remaining PWC Partners (albeit they weren’t life changing but sizeable) and I’m sure some good equity deals for those who went into the new entity…

Once they sell out what’s the carrot for the upcoming staff? No more potential partnership to keep people interested. Today’s partners might be the current owners but they didn’t build the firm. I’ve always thought that the responsibility of partners is to be a caretaker of the firm and to leave it stronger than when they joined. The idea that partners can just sell to a PE firm and remove all the value is a terrible model.
M1 I agree but counter argument is in a Partnership a far fewer number of people benefit much more greatly - whereas in an ACN corporate model a lot more ppl benefit but perhaps not as much.
So I agree for those who are certain they will make Partner in a Partnership then they’ll probably make less (though I’m sure they’ll be someone from ACN on here who correct me as I know there can be some hefty salaries there) in a corp structures but a lot more ppl who would tap out at Director at Big 4 for whatever reason (often just timing) would be more likely to make the top level and earn more in a more corporate structure.
The question I’m not sure on is how much in these PE/corp structures do real rainmakers really have the potential to earn significant t returns. One of the biggest issues I have with Partnership is there are a lot of ppl being paid obscenely and quite frankly if they weren’t there you wouldn’t notice…
