Have you tried it big kid cups? Something with a sippy spout or a water bottles? I might steer clear of the bottles completely and try to introduce a different cup. She’s definitely old enough for a sippy cup or other type of spout. We like the nuby Clik ones
Also, consider a feeding therapist if it doesn’t get better; your pediatrician should be able to refer. I kind of rolled my eyes at it when it was brought up for our 3 month old (thinking how could it help since she could eat?), but it was honestly the most helpful appointment we’ve had as we’ve navigated eating challenges. It’s essentially like occupational therapy and they assess if there are challenges baby is compensating for etc.
Have someone else give her the bottle in a dark/dim room with no distractions
She doesn’t NEED milk.. but if you’re really adamant, have you tried mixing it with some BM? Or tried pumping and starting with just BM in a bottle or cup?
And soemone else tried while you were not home? That’s when we had success with my First who never took bottles well
They might not take cow milk while also nursing. For my oldest she wouldn’t take cow milk at all when she was also getting breastmilk. So we just did water while she weaned (supplementing with cheese and yogurt). Continued with non-liquid dairy products for about 3 months and then introduced whole milk and she drank it.
I could understand this happening - I will continue weaning her and try this. Thank you!
Mine does the same. He was EBF, currently 16 months and still has 3 breastfeeding sessions a day. He will drink water, juice and even smoothies from a straw cup or sippy cup but not milk. Sometimes he will drink 1 or 2 oz max before throwing the cup away. I tried for a while but finally gave up. He loves yogurt and Brie cheese though so he still gets the calcium he needs. My take is that he knows the milk is a substitute for his breastfeeding sessions and is not willing to give them up yet. My plan for weaning him is to start dropping a session at a time at 18 months. If that doesn’t work after 2 months I will go away for a week end and wean him cold turkey. Gotta start working on baby 2 soon 😄
Haha my thoughts exactly - good luck!
