I am a lateral resource and they hired me in June, but they have no projects related to my tech and want me to take weird roles.. seems they are hiring to increase employee count and cross training most. just looking for options..

When my husband's friend first graduated from school, he interviewed with numerous firms (architecture) and was always told he was talented but lacked experience. Finally in one interview, he said to the manager, "I'm looking for the firm who is willing to give me a chance because it seems like everyone else is afraid to." He ended up getting hired and stayed with that firm for about 15 years. Sometimes it just takes a simple statement like that to make it happen.
Probably did not do as well on the interview.
Work on prepping more, do you have STAR examples prepped and ready to go?
I used vault.com back in 2006 to study consulting interview questions. I memorized them forwards and backwards and received three offers my senior year. I was a mediocre student with a finance degree from a state school. I 100% attribute getting the offers to vault though. I was way luckier than most of my classmates. Good luck, something will eventually stick.
I agree with consultant. Make sure you are well prepared and know the technicals cold. Some of it also comes down to luck: you just need one person to take a chance on you. I had 10ish interviews before I got an offer after graduation. The guy who hired me works with me now and we have become close friends (10 years later)
I also agree with consultant. It is probably a result of your interview. If they didn't believe you would be a good fit, you wouldn't have been interviewed. Some companies have received anywhere from 50 to 200 resumes or more for one open role. Good luck to you.
My company has certain requirements for candidates. I’m sorry to tell you that you may have just been a statistic for them to state they looked at a diverse group of candidates.
I provide career coaching to finance and consulting professionals. Feel free to DM me happy to talk about your experience so far with the interviews and processes and help you get to the bottom of the issues.
Find out what other jobs that you have the experience enough for the job, rather than trying to use the degree itself alone. Find out if a company has a paid training program in some other job, but still in the same field. Maybe that will give you the experience companies are looking for. If that doesn't work, the hell with them and find a job that your talents will be truly beneficial.
Making them think too hard about their own biases can often result in defaulting to some canned bullshit answer.
