You obvs won’t be able to get there directly. You’ll have to make (probably several) moves getting closer every time.
1. ID a job you want
2. go on LinkedIn and see what people who have had that job did beforehand
3. Can you get to those feeder jobs from your current position? If yes, end here. If no, see where people worked before those feeder jobs. Repeat as necessary.
Idk what entertainment agencies are looking for but I’d imagine your path looks like a change to being a general litigator then a change to soft IP lit
Do you want to be an agent or work for the agencies?
I’ve talked to people. Unfortunately, the market sucks right now. Also, bear in mind that agents don’t have to be attorneys, so you’re going up against lay people too for these positions. Lastly, you might have to take a significant pay cut and start in a lower-tier position (assistant) to obtain this goal. They want you to climb ladders. Laterals are only likely possible if you were lucky enough to land a job at a entertainment law firm. Godspeed
Quit your firm job and go work at CAA. The hardest part for you, is that since you're lateraling in at this stage of your career, you're going to take an 85-ish% pay cut and eat shit for 5 years until you make agent. But you will be right in the heart of it and living your dream.
