Just keep lying to yourself that things will slow down “next week” until you finally quit.
It doesn't get better. If you really feel like you aren't cut out for the never-ending workload, go public interest. No hour tracking, no billables, 9-5 lifestyle. Yeah you won't be as rich but you won't want to kill yourself either.
Don't become a public defender and that'll solve that issue.

I no longer litigate, but did for years and never really noticed a slow summer trend. Summer is 3-ish months, and if you’re slow for them it’ll be difficult to hit hours overall. The only trend I noticed was that the end of December and early January tended to be pretty darn dead. Not always, but usually I could rely on those 1.5-2 weeks for being pseudo-vacations where I “worked from home” while putting in a couple of hours at most each day.
I practice in NYC, so IDK about regional. One of the partners I work for works out of the Hamptons every year from the minute the summer associates leave at the end of June until the first years arrive in the fall because it is so predictably slow in the summer.
Im a first year as well. Had one slow week in July and back on track for a 275 august. Want a vacation so bad
