My hours are low and work hasn’t been flowing my way (just a few projects, but nothing major or promises of work that don’t materialize). I keep feeling like my firm is phasing me out, but I kind of always have this lingering concern at the back of my mind. What should I be looking out for in terms of signs that I may be on the verge of being coached out vs natural slow periods? (senior-ish associate, transactional practice)

From what I've seen, first is very little work. Then when you ask enough, it'll either be non-billable terrible work or work with terrible partners known for making people quit. If nothing works, a random pip.

I have a governmental entity client in Texas that wants to offer 6 weeks of paid parental leave for all employees, even those who aren’t eligible for FMLA. After the paid 6 weeks, the employee can choose to continue paid leave using any accrued personal leave.

Texas does not have a paid parental leave statute.

If paid leave above what is required is offered for parents, do we also have to provide the same benefit to other employees that are eligible for unpaid leave?
