Idk but Denver ain’t cheap
Yeah but more expensive than the other cities listed was my point
TL;DR 20-25% between Bay area and these cities. 3 key details:
1. Google pays location market rate not based on COL. So even if Denver is $$, it pays based on what other companies pay locally.
2. I believe alll of these cities are under US_NATIONAL, so would be all the same. Bay Area is Super premium and you have Premium in between (Boston, LA, etc.).
3. I got a 15% difference between Super premium to premium in 2018. Then another 10% to move to Austin in 2020 on a slighly different role with similar pay band.
Thanks!! Super insightful
Following!
They adjust if move to lower cost city? Do they adjust if move to higher cost :)
I think they do!
Must be different across job ladders. I lost 10% for SF -> LA but just 5% for LA -> AUS. PM.
It also varies over time as each market changes YoY and at potentially a different rate/pace. I was in Finance when I did the first move and EngPgM on the second move.
