My manager stood up for me today, and not in a performative way, but in a real, public, “I’ve got your back” kind of way. After so many experiences where I’ve felt overlooked or unsupported, it honestly caught me off guard (in the best way). Having someone who backs my ideas and acknowledges my work has changed how I show up—I’m speaking up more, taking more space, and feeling way more confident. Have you ever had a manager who truly empowered you? What did they do that made the difference?

Honestly… not yet. Most of my managers have been nice enough, but not advocates. Hearing stories like yours gives me hope though. That kind of support makes such a difference, especially when you’re used to having to prove yourself twice as hard.

I have a manager like that. It’s refreshing. It bolsters confidence and frees up mental space to deal with other things. The psychology of work and having to always be on defensive mode while still working to be excellent is exhausting. Sometimes the right people are in management and we get the benefit.

I’m happy for you.

Yes, I’ve been blessed def had a few. My latest one makes 4. I only one had bad one who would throw me under the bus in meetings. I was in healthcare. Because, of her that caused me to go to the client side. Sometimes it’s not isolated especially if it’s their leadership style. Kudos to you. 🎉🎊💥

Actually just had something great happen earlier this week. Something silly happened, not a big deal, but it was something that I had taken steps to prevent. Which didn’t happen and I had to let them know, they went out of their way to fix it and make sure that it wouldn’t happen again. Now that gave me the warm fuzzies, because normally it would have been a battle and a half.

I have and it was a wonderful experience. I have also had another black woman stand up for me and get terminated.

Going back to in-person learning has been quite a challenge. We have 4 in-person and 8 virtual. The 4 in-person have done as well as to be expected, however their behaviors have been less than desired. One is being considered for going back to virtual due to behaviors. It's next to impossible to expect them to keep masks on and when they do, they're usually nasty or wet. I have PPEs but things do happen in the spur of the moment and it's hard to stop and put on gloves and such.

How many days Deloitte India takes to release offer letter. I tried to contact HR she said that they are trying to get approvals and it is in progress. It's been a week that i have uploaded my docs.

Strategies for getting a job at Wieden + Kennedy:

1. Create a competitive shop that will steal all of their clients in the future, forcing them to acquire you today.
2. Become friends with every person at the agency and have them all refer you on the same day.
3. Just win all of the awards.
4. Start showing up to their office with big ideas, and complain about HR not being able to find you in the system occasionally.
