My new husband can't afford expensive gifts for Christmas and I absolutely don't need him to, but I still want to treat him! He and I exchange one gift each year and this year I want to get him a really nice watch he looked at longingly when we were out this weekend, but it's almost a grand and he usually spends less than $100 on me. Should I get it for him or should I try for something along what he might spend on me?

How is your relationship otherwise? Is there a risk of him feeling emasculated or looked down on if you get him this expensive gift? Will this make him want to repay you somehow even though it's not within his means? Maybe save the watch as a surprise for another time, where he's not expected to reciprocate a gift.

Wait till his birthday?

Define Bf. Is this early. Are you committed. Are you living together? I’d wait until birthday, too. Go watch the Micheal Scott white elephant gift episode if you want to know how it makes others feel. Nothing to do with emasculating.

Good catch. Don’t know why I thought BF. I still vote birthday.

Wait til his bday for sure. It might be awkward…

Vote for birthday too - unless you buy a matching one for yourself.

Would a CFO husband not buy his wife the gift she wants because she can’t afford an equally expensive gift for him?

It depends on the nature of the relationship and how you feel about family money and joint accounts. (He could buy you an expensive gift if he wanted to, because he has you to support him, right?)

I would ask myself if it was going to make him feel some type of way and if it would make him feel bad or less than, then I would try to match his spending. If it is your love language and it won't make him feel bad then I say go for it.

My hubby in same boat and we have a joint account so he can absolutely afford to buy me something nice 😆🤩😉 I will say over the years he’s returned nearly every nice gift I’ve got for him so I don’t bother any more and tell him not to as well. It takes the pleasure out of it. Just get what I want when I want it and same for him. You could do creative competitions cap gifts at $40 or $100 or whatever? That makes it fun!

I have heard from friends working in different companies about Synechron. Employees working hours are very closely monitored at Synechron.

Employees have to spend 9 hours inside Office rather than Synechron premise.

Also, employees have some app installed in their virtual machines which tracks the duration for which they were logged in.

Is this true?Wanted to confirm from someone who are working with Synechron.

Is there a definitive guide to cost of living? The obvious cost of living centers (SF, NYC, LA etc.) get covered a lot, but I’m wondering where my city falls. It’s a modest Midwest city with ~100k residents but is a relatively touristy spot. It often feels like a MCOL area but I’m not sure how to adequately judge that, and it would be helpful to know when comparing salaries and the like.

Hey all. I have an interview with an investment bank coming up. I am currently a senior associate at big 4 doing financial due diligence. Can anyone give me interviews tips/what to study? I am very new to the diligence (less than 3 months), so am far from understanding a deal start to finish.

For those in big 4, how much time between accepting an offer and start date have you been able to ask for? Is a month feasible/how should one phrase it? Two weeks just doesn’t feel like enough with this heavy burnout/having to wrap up deals at old firm
