1000% worth it. You really don't want to know what I make these days and how irreplaceable I am with AI.
Thank you
The people that I know that work in HVAC that earn life changing money are in a Local (Union), or they own their own companies; but that involves risk…
My goal is to eventually get into the union and get the highest certification possible but I know it’s going to be a lot of work and take time.

I am not sure how you are categorizing older female. And I’m in the south, so crawling around in attics in August is probably way hotter. HVAC pays well. If you thing you would like the work, go for it. I would ask to shadow someone in the business for a few days ( or at least one) to make sure that is what you want to do. In general, all trades are in high demand, so that training has good long term prospects.
Getting into the trades has some great opportunities. High demand and high upside.
AI can't fix an HVAC system and if an amateur tries to using it to repair or maintain it they will be calling you with bigger problems.
After a 4 yr degree in Mass Comm and then many years in the auto industry, my brother went to school for HVAC….did it for a while and then got contract offers/assignments in Afghanistan, etc during that war and continued to work afterwards. He made a TON OF $$$$. Lots of hazard pay on top of a great salary…most of it tax free…but he could have lost his life if his base was ever bombed. He went from US base (tents) to U.S. bases…doing HVAC in those mega tents..very in demand as it was well over 100 degrees most days. So his job was critical. Many trips to bases he and his HVAC team was escorted by tanks…several hour drive in the desert. Once war was over, they kept him, still a great base pay but no more hazard pay. When he came back stateside a couple yrs ago, he had enough money to open his own automotive business. I know this is a rare case but most local HVAC guys I know make great money. Don’t worry what you get paid in an internship. Lots of ppl don’t even get pd for a mandatory required internship…

Sounds like a great deal, to be honest. Paid to learn for 2 years at $45k+? Then you make more and have new skills? Absolutely worth it.
Yes it is!
Seems to be very in demand especially with all the data centers being built that need to be kept cool.
Good luck.
It depends on your age and if you have the means to get you through the internship. Always remember there are X, Y factors involved. You may not like the people or caliber of people you will be working with day in and day out. Until you really work in something particular, you don’t know the ins and outs. I can tell you my son has his mechanical license for Florida. He still had to do the internship and work for $20 an hour. Just keep in mind you are dealing with people. Good on which direction you choose
