Not strictly law related, but for those who moved in with your partner before marriage, how did you split rent, logistically speaking? Did you just venmo/zelle each other, open a joint account before marriage, something else? Not sure what the implication of a joint account between unmarried individuals would be. Thank you!

We did a lot of Venmo back and forth. We also split based off of who made what. So since my partner made significantly more, he covered the rent and I covered utilities, groceries, and household stuff.

Joint account. Only deposited money for bills. Set up payments to auto pay. No muss. No fuss.

Joint account, where we each pay 50/50. It’s worked for us for 23 years, married 13, owned 2 houses and across 4 households. We may change the allocation (60/40 or 70/30 or similar) if we ever had kids, especially as he’s likely going to be the more active parent while I will likely earn more.

I’ve done both. Obviously there are risks of a joint account but it does make it quite a bit easier.

We did a lot of Venmo and then set up a joint checking and savings account after we got married.

Thanks for all the responses, everyone! Looks like no one has shared horror stories one way or the other, so we can just do what’s best for us and keep open lines of communication

We take turns, pay a few days early, and forward each other the receipts so we know the other person didn’t forget.

We don’t have rent (I own our house), but I pay my mortgage and he pays all the bills/groceries/etc. And we assume it evens out in the wash. It also has been way easier than keeping up with constantly venmoing each other.

Research shows living together not the best indicator of a future success in marriage. Go for the gold.

I’ve seen those stats, but not with recent numbers. One potential explanation is that when living together before marriage was more socially taboo, those who did so needed to move in together for financial reasons (one rent payment instead of two). Financial instability is a significant indicator of marital stress and divorce. I’d be curious to see a more recent study.

Joint account that we contributed to based on income that covered shared expenses, rest of our $ was separate

I am seeking new employment, I was recently laid off due to lack of work. I would very much appreciate any leads. I have a Bs in Construction Management and over 15 years experience with Revit and AutoCAD and 7 years of plumbing design. I have solid references and impeccable work ethic. I truly enjoy what I do. Working remotely the last three years has become a way of my life and supports our current situation well, therefore I am seeking a similar role but will consider other opportunities.

Any interview tips for Project Manager roles in software development? I was moved to this role about 2 years ago and soon looking to jump to another company, but unsure of what to focus on talking about. I’ve tested the waters and the feedback from one interviewer who was generous enough to provide it was that I made myself sound like a technologist rather than a PM because I was too focused on the product and it’s details instead of the project management details.

Questions about job hopping-
My average tenure at a company is ~1.5 years (with ~11 YOE), but each jump I've made has yielded progressive/tangible career growth.

I'm concerned after my most recent jump (went from a product director to a head of product position at a different, smaller company after only a year) that I've kind of poisoned future career prospects at larger companies.

Any insights on whether this type of job hopping is a complete deal breaker for potential HMs?
