Office culture isn't pizza on Fridays.
As LOVELY as that is, it should be about how conflict is dealt with, how people are treated on their bad days etc. I feel like soo many companies say they have a great culture purely because there is a half day Friday, or a dress down Friday etc. I almost look the other way from those companies now when I see it in the job advert perks weirdly!

Totally with you. Real culture shows in how teams handle stress, not how many ping-pong tables they have. I’ve stayed at jobs where the support during crunch time was solid, even if the perks were basic. It’s easy to slap “fun culture” on a listing, but empathy’s harder to fake.

Absolutely, I would much rather have basic perks but be confident in knowing that my company is supporting me as a person. Both would be ideal ahah

You make a very valid point. The concept of company culture has taken on a very shallow meaning in recent years. Having food brought in, or organizing mandatory fun outings, is fine so far as it goes, but there should be a deeper component to it. If a company's idea of how to deal with employee concerns is to order in some free food, something's wrong.

Absolutely, taking care of your employees is deeper than just taking them out for food / days out. As amazing as that is, it should be accompanied with the deeper side of it

I do love coming in to see doughnuts and coffee, but I see your point. It’s so hard to understand the culture before you step into a role. I’ve tried to ask a lot of questions before. You just really don’t know a lot of the time until you see it for yourself.

Oh me too, a sweet treat is lovely as long as it is comes along with real culture. 100%, it's to hard to actually know what a place is like until you start
