I think people should evaluate the products based on how well they work and the benefits they provide.
If they are already using a line that they love they should stick with it, but if they try Beyoncé’s or Rihanna‘s line and they provide specific benefits for their hair that they like, then, they should use them.
I think it’s been proven already that Beyoncé on many occasions has worn her natural hair out, but we didn’t even know it because we didn’t know the true length of her hair. Rihanna too has probably worn her natural hair out a lot as well. But as entertainers who want to achieve different looks for different projects, it’s common for them to wear wigs and extensions and also as a preventative measure for their hair’s protection.
Also, we don’t know what they do in their private lives. I’m sure as soon as they get off that stage or from a function, they throw that wig to the floor and sport their natural hair in private with their friends and families. Lol.
I agree with just evaluating particular products, like a gel or conditioner, if it piques your interest. I understand the sentiment OP, but I dislike when black people do this to black owned products.
I know Beyoncé and Rihanna are much more visible to the public compared to an anonymous founder/CEO and we can have emotional attachments to them, so it’s easy to say “they already have sources of income” but other founders of haircare, makeup eventually do too, that’s how they make a ton of money.
I highly doubt white people say, “are we supporting so and so lines”…they just buy or don’t. Rihanna’s deal with LVMH, especially as a black woman, is super rare, Beyonce funding it on her own (I’m assuming) is her way of betting on herself in a new prestige lane, and I’d rather see so much more of that, along with the other black owned products to try and be inspired by.
I wouldn’t say white people are the standard for our behavior. They act atrocious on many occasions. What I would say is because we are the minority, I do not like when we tear down what someone else’s success is. That has already been done to us centuries over (Tulsa anniversary just passed) so why do we have to join in?
Like how people were outraged when Carol’s Daughter was sold. It may be a misunderstanding of how business works, but this is how generational wealth can be created.
We are equal, and when we do “equal” things, somehow we are supposed to pick and choose or be upset with the selling of a company and I don’t understand having and keeping that mindset.
Do you say the same about the bald CEOs you buy hair care products for? Or is it a problem when black women do it??
Is that how you consider making your other purchases? Look at the streams of income of the owners? The lens we judge each other is insane!
Not wanting to support Beyoncé’s or Rihanna’s ventures under the reasoning that they already have other sources of income is insane when most of the products we buy are owned by wealthy white billionaires.
Girl I ain’t playing with you right now either speak ya facts or get tf out my shit.
It took me long enough to find what works for my hair. I'm not deviating.
Yeah I’m good but people can try what they want.
WAIT - You “FEEL” like Beyoncé and Rihanna “have other sources of income” …Yet you buy bald white men’s hair care goop?
Feelings about Beyoncé and Rihanna‘s sources of income while making the Koreans rich and richer?
This is why we can’t have nice things
Now, if you found a regimen that works for you, I get it… but the other “logic” comes from an oppressed mindset. Any non Black person can rake in Black dollars but we are super suspicious of our own

I love this chat lol
I’m just kind of perplexed that Rihanna picked the same time to drop her line when Fenty Hair has been trademarked for a couple years now. Fenty skin didn’t work for me but Fenty beauty did wonders. I’m curly girl who has spent a grip on products and feels like this is more of a cash grab rather than something that’s truly meant to help women of color. That being said and done I’ve hear wonders about Cecred. I’ll be waiting for the Fenty Hair reviews. My pockets, time and my hair can’t afford two hair care line drops at the same time.
Fenty skin was a bust for me, all the foundation oxidized badly
You really woke up and thought, I'm going to decide to hate on two successful Black women. For no reason other than I think the industry is saturated enough, they have enough sources of income, and their worn texture is different from mine. I sincerely hope Juneteenth is good to you this year.
I never said I wasn’t, it was a question.. so what are you saying?
I guess we can say the same thing about supporting European wigs that don’t match the hair type. That money goes to the salons that sell them & the women who install them. I’m hoping the focus in on hair care.

I’m not but I have locs and I feel like I’m NOT their target audience
Why is that? The spokesperson who happens to be a black woman, and a medical doctor for Cecred has locs. Also there a people with locs advertised on the IG page as well. Beyonces husband has locs. https://www.instagram.com/reel/C7esrjcJHUt/?igsh=MWl0a2dyZjU1Mm01Ng==
Nothing against both women but I will keep the same routine. I don't really buy celebrities' products just because they are famous. Unless the product is amazing. But I do understand people who'd rather buy hair products and financially support Black people than the other corporations who don't care about us and just want to profit from our love of our culture and natural hair.

I don’t agree with the point of view. But it is rubbing me the wrong way how they are both into hair care but rarely wear their own hair. Kim Kardashian markets everything she stamps her name on. I wish Rihanna and Bey would hop on social more and authentically be real for their target audience
When it comes to how Kim markets her products for example skims, she wears it all the time and turns all her friends corworkers and family into influencers. You see her work at skims on her reality show. Not sure why you had such a huge reaction. If you’re in marketing, tons of case studies have been done on Kims Skims empire as well as Fenty. Which is why her hair line is questionable, cause the same impact is not being given to the hair line like it was her makeup. Beyoncé just doesn’t connect with her fans on that level at all. You can see it with her sales numbers.
Id give them a try and see if they live up to the expectations. Especially after knowing that some of the popular brands we use & love aren’t even black owned.
Easy answer. Buy the products that work best for you. I expect Rhi and Bey to market, send samples, etc. Like everyone else given their support. If their products work best or comparable for me I will use them otherwise no.
