On one hand, I'm very proud of myself for being among the 26% of women in sales management roles but on the other, there's a constant fear of being replaced by a man and so I catch myself being okay with unpaid mentorship burdens. Women leaders are asked to mentor others without compensation or recognition and most of us are okay with it, sadly. What strategies can organizations use to attract more women to sales roles so this can be a less male-dominated industry??

I think the sales industry needs to advertise roles on networks like Fairygodboss, PowerToFly, or Women For Hire so these roles are reaching a more diverse talent pool. Also, the other thing stopping wom en from doing this is the lack of remote/hybrid options or adjustable schedules. That plus a little more generous parental leave to address caregiving disparities could really change things up. At least that's my opinion.

Correct me if I’m misunderstanding, but I don’t think many mentors get paid? If it is training or job related, then yes, that should be paid. I’ve taken on mentees and really enjoyed the process, but also have to recognize when I need to take a break and not push myself too far. Only so much time in a day.

This is deeper than the industry, this is women propping up the patriarchy and being complicit in it. Hence why we have Felonious Frump in office. As a demographic white women largely voted against their own best interests and now look at us…. Sales leadership is a microcosm for how the country operates as a whole. Don’t expect more women to be hired and promoted, you should unequivocally expect less because white women were the first and largest recipient of DEI hiring benefits.

Thanks for your leadership!

Hello! What is the best way to structure a discovery call for SaaS sales? e.g. share a deck, only focus on their use case (current state, goals, pain, etc.), share a story, etc. Lastly, how do you go further than surface level, like if they mention they are having issues with xyz, which is usually a symptom of the problem and not the problem itself. Any info would be appreciated, thanks.
