I think it depends on the role and how much time you've been out of school. I think they're more likely to look into your schooling if you only have a few years or companies of work experience.

It makes total sense to check the education history,I just know a few people that have lied on their CV and just got away with it. It must just vary by company
What do you mean by school results? I think they can only access whether or not you graduated and what semesters you were there.
Oh yikes, the US is very different.
Like your gpa? I don’t think so. I have never included it on my cv anyway. I just list my school, degree, and certifications. That’s all most companies care about anyway.

Funny you ask, my boss actually told me he did look at my school results and even remembered I got a scholarship or something, lol!
