We are a private venture-back company that’s targeting IPO next year. I am trying to update our option guidelines of which employee levels should have an option on how many shares. I was not here when the guidelines were created and I’ve never worked for a company that offers equity. Can anyone share how they set option levels at your company or perhaps at a former company?

A former company of mine started at Sr. Director level at just under 100, and each level up went up about 100 options.

We are a firm of 5 transactional attorneys and the bonus structure is very unclear. The usual “based on personal performance and firm profitability” language. I wonder how this is calculated in general. What is the percentage bracket of the bonus? Assume it is a high performance 9+ year attorney and the firm is profitable (even with COVID). The based salary is low $120k. Firm is in Tx. I’d love to hear your comments.

I’ve been in my current position (Bookkeeper) for 4 years now. I’m highly interested in taking the PHR, and I’m wondering if I would qualify for the 4 year HR professional job requirement to be eligible to test for the certificate. Hello. I am just starting off in the corporate Hr biz. I have done it for small restaurants and now I finally have an opportunity to step it up to a coordinator for a corporate company. I am in California. I have 2 years of running the HR departments of smaller business but now slightly taking a step down but since it’s a bigger company it’s more structured. Anyways. How much do I ask for?

I am looking to make a career change to HR. I currently make 75K as a sales and development coach. I had a recent offer for a state government position in a talent acquisition role but I’d be taking a $25K pay cut. I am extremely over qualified for the position but it could possibly be a stepping stone and gives me the time to acquire SHRM certifications and possibly start taking classes to get my MBA. My question is those currently in an HR role, would this move make sense to you?

SPHR exam- has anyone ever been “randomly selected” for an application audit? This just happened to me and the sheer amount of effort that is going to go into collecting all the documents almost makes me not want to follow through. Since I didn’t finish undergrad, they’re asking for a copy of my high school diploma or transcript and that itself is going to be an absolute nightmare to get hold of. Guess I’m not really looking for a solution here, just venting.
